A competitive industry, but with many development opportunities, logistics is becoming increasingly attractive for Romanian entrepreneurs, who choose to invest not only in transport fleets, but also in their own storage spaces to offer services at standards that rival those of multinational companies in the industry.
Identifying a need among its clients, most of them companies in the automotive industry, to store their goods in an adequate space in the short and medium term, regardless of quantity and with flexibility in delivery, Rares Sarbu decided to explore this opportunity. Thus, a new name appeared among logistics service providers in Romania.
We wanted to learn more about the story of Rara Logistic, the reasons why a Romanian entrepreneur is investing in this field and the future plans of one of the youngest logistics companies on the Romanian market.
How was Rara Logistic born?
Shortly after we noticed this need for storage space on the market, we rented our first warehouse and took custody of the goods from some of the clients in our portfolio at that time. In a few years, we reached 3,000 pallets stored and we searched for a more spacious warehouse than the initial one, and then we made the decision to build our own logistics warehouse in the Sura Mica Industrial Park.
Can you give us more details about this project?
The warehouse has an area of 3 000 square meters, respectively 3 200 locations and is structured in 3 halls to be able to store both food-specific goods, having sanitary-veterinary authorization with spaces equipped with cold for refrigerated goods, as well as goods intended for the construction materials industry or the automotive industry. The investment amounted to 1 million euros, and the warehouse is currently occupied at a rate of 60%.
What services does Rara Logistic offer its clients? Which industries do you target and what are the main advantages you offer to clients?
Rara Logistic offers the full range of logistics services, from warehousing, cargo handling, local or external transport through third parties, cargo sorting, picking, packaging, repackaging, courier shipping. We mainly address the industrial and automotive segments, but also production units in the food industry. Our main advantages are flexibility in delivery and minimum stored quantities.
How do you see the logistics market in Romania from the perspective of a young company in the field?
If we follow Western European models, the Romanian market is still growing, as evidenced by the massive investments in this field in recent years.
And I can't help but notice the rising trend of online commerce and the fact that people are increasingly using online channels to shop, which will automatically increase the demand for storage spaces. I believe that those who will build or prepare warehouses to meet this need will have a lot to gain.
What are the goals and future plans for RARA Logistic?
First of all, we want to serve our customers with maximum promptness. Then, we want to develop as a company, reach an occupancy rate of 90% for the spaces we already have and expand our customer portfolio. We recently acquired another 12 000 sq m of land in the Sura Mica Industrial Park where we plan to build a 15 000-location logistics warehouse in 2019, equipped with high-altitude picking systems in order to provide our customers with faster and more efficient logistics services.
